Pineapple Allergy

Pineapple allergy is a fruit allergy and is caused by eating large amounts of pineapple and drinking juice. Sensitive people may also be allergic to touching pineapple fruit. CAUSES OF PINEAPPLE ALLERGY

A pineapple allergy may occur when your immune system identifies it as a threat to your body. Your immune system then produces IgE antibodies to protect the body against the food allergen. It causes allergy symptoms. 39-kDa is an important protein.

However, pineapple contains food allergens that are responsible for allergies. After experiments, it is found that Bromelain causes IgE-mediated respiratory and gastrointestinal allergic reactions.

Latex present in pineapple can be another major cause of pineapple allergy. Latex-fruit syndrome is the presence of Latex in fruit that may be responsible for allergy. If you have allergic reactions to pineapple, you should avoid the cross-reactivity with other fruits that contains latex.

  • Rubber toys

People who are allergic to pineapple may also be allergic to brushes and bananas which is known as a pollen-allergy syndrome. Eating raw pineapple can increase throat allergies.

Pineapple Allergy Treatment

If you suspect any of the above-listed symptoms after you eat pineapple, talk to your doctor. After the diagnosis tests, your doctor will prescribe over-the-counter medications. He will prescribe medicine on the base of your allergy severity to treat your allergic reactions to pineapple.

The most common and effective medications for pineapple allergy are:

  • Calamine lotion – for itchy skin and rashes
  • Topical Steroids
  • Antihistamines

For difficult breathing and asthma caused by pineapple he may prescribe:

  • Beta Agonists
  • Epinephrine – for breathing difficulty and nausea
  • Bronchodilators
  • Corticosteroid

Food to avoid

If you are allergic to pineapple, you should avoid any food made from pineapple. You should not drink pineapple juice to avoid the symptoms of this allergy. We use pineapple in many things and drinks which are as follows.

  • Canned salad
  • Pineapple rum
  • Pineapple jam
  • Banana bread
  • Soft drink
  • Fruit candies

Make sure that there are no pineapples in the food you are buying from outside. While you are eating at the hotel, tell the chef that they do not add pineapple to anything. You should inform the restaurant chef that you are allergic to pineapple. This will help you to avoid allergy symptoms.

The fruit can also be found in skincare products such as soaps and face creams. You should check the items thoroughly before buying and using them to make sure you are not allergic to them. If you have any doubts about these cosmetic products, buy some alternatives.
